Okay, so I was thinking of some super cool birthday cake ideas for a friend and thought that I would share with you guys today my favorite giant cupcake recipe. Giant cupcakes are great they are just as good as little cupcakes but better because they last longer! So here it is… my giant cupcake recipe and some extra handy tips on how to decorate it! Enjoy!.
For Your Giant Cupcake You will need:
- 4 eggs
- 8oz self raising flour
- 8oz soft margarine
- 8oz sugar
Method – How to Make a Giant Cupcake:
- First you need to turn your oven on to 180°
- Put an apron on
- Tie back your hair
- Wash your hands
Creaming the butter and sugar
- First you need to put your soft butter into a large mixing bowl and cream it until it is nice and fluffy this is when you need to add the sugar and mix together until all combined.
- Beating the eggs
You now need to get a mug/ cup and crack your eggs into it, then get rid
- of any unwanted shell and beat together with a fork then you can add food colouring of your choice and vanilla essence to jazz your cake up a bit.
- Adding the egg and flour
now you need to add the egg and flour to your sugar and butter mix, do this a little at a time, and stir well until no egg or flour remains.
- Spooning the mixture into your giant cupcake mould
you will now need to put your mixture into your giant cupcake mould. I advise that you get a table spoon and get a spoonful of the mixture at a time to your giant cupcake mould.
- Cooking your giant cupcake
Next you need to put your giant cupcake into the oven, (get an adult to help you with this as the oven can get VERY HOT!!) open the oven door first, then using a dry cloth/oven gloves get your giant cupcake and place into the oven then carefully closing the door, cook for 15-20 minutes. Bake for longer if you feel your giant cupcake needs it.
- Removing the giant cupcake from the oven
before you get your cake out of the oven you need to get a cooling rack out to put your giant cupcake on to cool then get it out the oven with your oven gloves on! Before you remove from the mould and decorate the giant cupcake leave to cool for 10-15 minutes then you can decorate it however you want!
Cupcakes are great, and the giant ones well, they are just awesome. Instead of cooking 12 cupcakes cook a big one and you can still feed as many people as you would have in the start with a tray of 12 cupcakes. Another thing using those paper cases is so wasteful but if you make a giant cupcake then the ‘tray’ you cook it in will be silicone… therefore you can save the environment and reuse it! Although even when I cook small cupcakes I use the silicone cupcake cases… but big cupcakes are awesome. For my birthday last year my Mum made me a giant cupcake, she told all my friends who came to my party that we were going to have ‘a’ cupcake, they all seemed rather disappointed until they saw the enormous giant cupcake that was on the table and they thought it was a great idea… <– So if you want a party trick there it is! This is just a few of the reasons why I think giant cupcakes are a great idea.
